Ulysse Nardin has its headquarter based in Le Locle, Switzerland. The brand stands for precision ever since. The company history starts with Ulysse, who followed the footsteps of his father Frederic and became a watchmaker. However, he suddenly died and his son Paul David, who at this time was not even 20 years old, assumed control. First he specialized on marine chronometers which were showered with awards. Finally, those timepieces got attention by American companies which tried to copy them. Unflinching by that, Ulysse Nardin developed pocket watches with complications like a perpetual calendar and moon phases. Even alarm clocks and a striking mechanism were built in.
Though, the company almost has been adjudged bankrupt at the beginning of the 1980s. When Rolf W. Schnyder relaunched the brand in conjunction with watchmaker Ludwig Oechslin, Ulysse Nardin was on the rise again.
Watches made by Ulysse Nardin are of course available for women and men and surprise with their wide variety of designs. The wristbands are made of rubber, leather, stainless steel or gold. Cases, whether round or rectangular are waterproof – dials are available in various colors, from black, to silver, to blue and brown, to purple. Some of them are also set with diamonds. The versatile design of those watches ranges from classic to modern, from elegant to sporty, from decent to distinctive and attract the most varied tastes. Of course, the functionality of these timepieces is not less exciting: waterproof, sub second, perpetual calendar and many more make them real masterpieces.
